Old Rescue 8

A farewell to a dedicated friend.

In 1994, the Penndel Fire Co. purchased a Pierce Lance Pumper for $375,000. The truck went in service as Rescue 8 and became one of the first combination Rescue Pumpers with a class "A" pump in Bucks County. Over the years, numerous fire companies thru-out the county looked at this truck for ideas when building their new apparatus.
In it's 15 years of service, Rescue 8 ran 3369 of 7583 total Station 8 calls including,
                                    900 Auto Extrication's
                                    672 Dwelling Fires
                                    442 Vehicle Fires
                                    327 Building Fires
The truck was recently sold to the Friendship Fire Co. of Birdsboro Pa. and we wish them the best of luck with it.
As sad as we were to see the old rescue go, we are equally excited to receive our new Rescue Pumper due to arrive in mid July. Our truck committee has taken many of the ideas from the old rescue and expanded upon them in building the specs for the new one.
The new Rescue, costing $750,000, will be a 2010 Rosenbauer Rescue Pumper with a Spartan chassis and seating for 8. It's also equipped with supplemental restraint systems, 515hp Cummins engine, tandem axles, independent front and rear air ride suspension. 1500gpm PTO pump, 500 gal water tank, 40 gal class B foam tank, 8 - reconnected water lines with electric valves.  30kw Harrison hydraulic generator, telescoping light tower, 4 - 6000psi air cascade system with fill station. 6 pre-connected hydraulic reels for Hurst tools, 123 feet of ground ladders. 20,000 lb front bumper mounted hydraulic winch, 1 - 9,000 lb portable electric winch w/ receivers on the under sides and rear of the body. 2 - high body mounted anchor points for rope rescue, electric powered awning, and a 250lb oil dry hopper.
Stay tuned for more info but in the mean time, check out some progress pics under our Recent Calls section.
